Betty J. Potenza Law Office

     I was born and raised in Poughkeepsie, NY, in the Mid-Hudson Valley.  After graduating from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie, New York, I began my legal career in 1973 as a paralegal with the Law Office of Stewart T. Schantz, P.C. in Highland, N.Y., a general practice firm, including matrimonial law and family law matters, wills and estates and appeals.  I obtained my Paralegal Certificate through the Marist College Paralegal Program.  Over the years, I worked towards my goal of becoming an attorney, and completed my undergraduate degree through SUNY Empire State College, New Paltz Division, majoring in sociology and psychology.

     After obtaining my undergraduate degree, I attended Pace University School of Law in White Plains, N.Y. and was admitted to practice law in the State of New York. 

     I continued to work as an attorney with the Schantz firm until 1999.  I worked for Attorney Robert P. Ianelli, a law firm in Southern Dutchess, representing plaintiffs in personal injury matters until 2007. 

    From 2007 until 2010, I worked with the Law Office of Peter D. Hoffman in Westchester County, a firm practicing in the fields of Special Education Advocacy and Civil Rights Litigation.

     I began my own firm in 2010.
